The sea shore

Geraldton has spectacular beaches catering for a variety of water activities including surfing, windsurfing, kite boarding, stand up paddling, swimming, snorkelling, body boarding, or just relaxing.

The best surfing is between April to October when there is little wind and ideal swell conditions, while the warmer months between November to March provide the best wind conditions for the windsurfing and kite boarding enthusiast.

Back Beach

A great beach for both beginners and the more experienced depending on the swell size. ‘Backers’ as it is fondly known, is the place to go for beach-break surf, a boogie board or kite board.

Champion Beach

Located in the heart of the city, Champion Beach is home to the Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club and boasts white sandy beaches and still waters.

Drummond Cove

A family friendly beach in northern Geraldton includes a playground and barbecue facilities.

Drummonds Point

A reef break great for the experienced surfer and for a spot of fishing too.

Flat Rocks

Flat Rocks is located 35km south of 91ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø and is a popular surf break during bigger swells in the winter, offering a reef bottom break for both left and right hand surfers. Flat Rocks also plays host to many surfing events including the Geraldton Boardriders Club, Sunshine Surf Masters and is one of the locations for the WA State Round Competition.

Front Beach

This protected beach lies at the southern end of the Geraldton foreshore and features a playground and other family friendly facilities.

Greenough Rivermouth

Great shore break for the intermediate to advanced surfer. It handles a southerly wind making it a surf spot all year round. Also popular for fishing and swimming.

Glenfield Beach

Head to ‘Glennies’ to indulge in snorkelling, surfing, fishing, windsurfing or kite boarding fun.

Greys Beach

Protected from northerly winds, this is a pristine swimming beach.

Midalias Beach

Located at the newly revamped Beresford Foreshore, Midalias Beach is a protected beach great for the family. The sheltered spot makes it a perfect spot for a SUP or a picnic with facilities such as BBQs and toilets close by.

Pages Beach

Located in the beautiful West End, Pages Beach is protected from the southerly winds and is a popular swimming and fishing location. This family friendly beach also offers barbeques and a playground.

Point Moore

Point Moore is renowned for its windy conditions for the windsurfer and kite boarder enthusiast especially in the warmer months of the year. Located in Geraldton’s West End, Point Moore is also popular for surfing, stand up paddling, body boarding, swimming and snorkelling.

Separation Point

Sepo’s is popular for windsurfing, kite boarding and snorkelling. Experience colourful fish species, sponges and corals. In winter or big swells experienced surfers can enjoy a wave here.

Southgates Beach

Witness the immense beauty of the white sand dunes of Southgates. Sandboarders can enjoy sliding down the towering slopes while the beach lures fishermen and the 4WD enthusiast.

St Georges Beach

A great location for the windsurfing and kite boarding beginner, St Georges Beach is also popular to enjoy stand up paddling, fishing and swimming. Located just north of the Geraldton CBD there is also barbecue facilities and a playground for the kids.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is popular for surfing, fishing, windsurfing and kite boarding, and as the name suggests, a beautiful place to enjoy watching the sun sink into the Indian Ocean.

Tarcoola Beach

Enjoy swimming, surfing, fishing and kite boarding at Tarcoola Beach, located south of Geraldton’s city centre.
