Preparing Medium Sized Lots for Bushfire Season
All medium sized lots between 4000m2 and 5 hectares in size must meet the following requirements by the Annual Fire Hazard Information Booklet deadline.
Properties with significant wattle bush may be instructed by the City to take special action.
All structures and buildings, including private power poles, must have a minimum three meter clearance of all inflammable material.
Mineral earth or mulch breaks against the boundary fence must be a minimum of three meters in width and have a minimum overhead clearance of four meters.
All combustible material grades, mowed or slashed to a maximum height of 7.5cm over the entire property. This excludes managed vegetation such as ornamental trees, distinct islands of vegetation remote from boundaries and assets.
PERMITS
CBD (91ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø and Mullewa) and surrounding suburbs
A application for a permit to burn is required, at any time outside of prohibited burning period.
An onsite inspection by a Fire Control Officer (FCO) is mandatory before a permit can be issued.
Burning is prohibited from 1 October - 28 February
Permit to burn is required from until 30 September and from 1 March
Permit to burn required all year round within the gazetted fire district.
SEMI RURAL AREAS - ANY PROPERTY outside the gazetted fire district not a broadacre or
commercial farm
Burning Permits are required from 1 March to 30 September. (Inspection is at FCO’s discretion).
Burning is prohibited from 1 October - 28 February
Permit to burn is required from until 30 September and from 1 March
BROADACRE OR COMMERCIAL FARM
Permits are required for burning of bush, grass or stubble from 15 September to 30 September and 1 March to 15 March. Burning of bush, grass and stubble only from 16 March to 14 September is unrestricted (does not require permit)
No permit required until 14 September and from 16 March
Permit to burn is required from 15 September - 30 September and 1 March - 15 March
Burning is prohibited from 1 October - 28 February
